The traditional family construct has given way to include additional types of family units. At WONDERMUMS we define mum as a role that a primary or shared carer plays rather than just the traditional biological mother. Primary carers playing the role of the modern mum include:

  • Biological or step mother
  • Biological father or step father
  • Adopted or foster mother or father
  • Grandparents
  • Guardians or carers
  • LGBTI parents

Our programs are designed to empower and help all mums whatever type of mum they may be.  Some program content may not be relevant to all of our mums, given the diversity of modern mums, and those activities can be skipped over.

Whatever type of mum you are, you’ll find yourself dealing with a range of challenges that are common to all mums. You may also have a number of additional challenges to contend with depending on the type of mum you are. Motherhood after all is a universal struggle with ups and downs, twists and turns, good days and not so good days.

We embrace all mums on their journey through motherhood and no matter type of mum you identify with, we want to help you thrive during this important phase of your life!
